The Basics Of Botox And Dermal Fillers

A beginners guide to facial aesthetic treatments at the Cygnet Dental Practice

No one can avoid growing older; it is a simple fact of life. What we can do though is to endeavour to both stay fit and healthy, and also keep our youthful appearance for as long as possible.

Whilst many people will have seen celebrities who have achieved this through facial aesthetic treatments, they may be unaware of where they can go to receive these treatments themselves.

If you live in the Wickford or Rayleigh area, you will be pleased to know that both Botox and Dermal fillers are now available at the Cygnet Dental Practice. Whether you are looking to help erase the lines on your face, or fill out thinning lips, we are here to help you to achieve your aims.

The consultation

Before any treatment starts, it is important for a consultation to take place. This enables us to discuss the treatments with patients as well as to understand what it is that they wish to achieve from it. Problematic areas will be identified and possible treatments discussed before any action is taken.

Botox

Botox offers a quick and straightforward solution for those who wish to have wrinkle free and younger looking skin. The serum is injected just underneath the skin in the relevant areas, and each appointment should last no longer than 30 minutes. Within 5 to 14 days, patients should see an improvement in the appearance of their skin and although it varies from person to person, most people should expect the new improvements to last for between four and six months.  Whilst the treatment is ideal for special occasions such as weddings or Christmas, it can be reapplied safely, when the effects start to wear off, should you wish your skin not to return to its former wrinkled self.

Generally speaking, Botox is used for the following:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Lines around the eyebrows
  • Lines around the edge of the eyes

Dermal fillers

For deeper set lines around the forehead or the mouth, dermal fillers are ideal for restoring volume in these areas, improving the smoothness of the skin. They are also excellent at restoring the volume of thinning lips, something which happens when we lose collagen as we grow older. The time taken and the length of the results is very similar to that of Botox, and again, the procedure can be safely repeated to keep your skin looking constantly smooth and younger looking.

Fillers are most commonly used for the following:

  • Deeper lines on the forehead or between the eyebrows
  • Smile lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the nose
  • Improving the fullness of the lips
