Customised Teeth Whitening For Our Wickford Patients

Our home whitening kit helps patients choose the whiteness of their smile.

There is little disputing that a teeth whitening procedure is one of the most popular and easy ways to improve a smile.

Even with the best care in the world, our teeth start to darken as we get older, and, as this discolouration largely takes place inside the teeth, there is little improvement to be had by increased brushing.

At the Cygnet Dental Practice, we offer customised home teeth whitening kits for our Wickford patients which are not only effective, but comfortable too as they are specifically made for each individual; unlike shop bought whitening kits. In addition to the additional comfort that this provides, it also helps to prevent the whitening ingredient from leaking and coming into contact with the gums and lips which may cause painful and unsightly burns.

How white?

In addition to the benefits mentioned above, our customised kits also offer patients a choice as to how white they want their teeth to be. Whilst many people believe that a teeth whitening procedure will make your teeth a brilliant white, as is often the case with models and actors etc, it doesn’t have to be as bright as that. In fact, many of our patients specifically ask for the whiteness to be toned down a little. There can be a number of reasons for this, but many people seem to want a pleasant but natural whiteness which looks attractive without drawing attention to the fact that they have had their teeth whitened.

Toothpastes

Some patients have also asked us about the various teeth whitening toothpastes which are increasingly seen advertised on TV. The fact is that these only have a limited effect due to the restrictions on the amount of whitening ingredient allowed in them. They can, however, be helpful in extending the period of time between whitening procedures and we can offer advice on that at your consultation.

Side effects

There should be no real side effects from a teeth whitening treatment although a few patients may experience a little more sensitivity in their teeth for a short period. This should return to normal soon afterwards, but patients are advised to avoid very hold or cold food or drinks for a few days and you may also wish to consider a sensitivity toothpaste too. In the event of any sensitivity causing pain, or lasting for more than a short time, please contact us for further advice.
