A New Smile For The New Year At Your Wickford Cosmetic Dentist

Dental makeovers for a beautiful new smile.

Now that Christmas is behind us for another year, many of us will be looking to the new year celebrations and beyond. Whilst our more immediate thoughts may be on the night itself, many of us will have at least some loose plans as to what we hope to achieve in the new year too.

Whilst many new year resolutions will include the usual, get fit, lose weight, stop smoking etc, it is probably no coincidence that we often see more patients at the Cygnet Dental Practice, in January each year, who are looking to improve their smile.

Cosmetic improvements

Although having healthy teeth and gums is essential; for many, this is not enough. It is quite possible for teeth and gums to be strong and healthy, whilst at the same time, looking quite unattractive. There are many ways that the cosmetic dental treatments offered at our Wickford practice can help. Sometimes just a single procedure, such as a teeth whitening treatment may be all that is required, but, for those seeking to have the best smile possible, a combination of treatments is often used. The ‘umbrella’ term commonly used for this is a smile makeover.

Smile makeover treatments

Each patient is an individual and will require a bespoke treatment plan. Below, we look at some of the treatments that are most commonly used as part of a smile makeover.

Dental bonding – Where teeth have received minor chips, either bonding or a small tooth coloured filling may be used to restore its appearance. Even small changes such as this can make a noticeable difference.

Teeth whitening – Our customised teeth whitening procedure enables patients to lighten their teeth by up to eight shades. This non invasive treatment is one of our most popular and provides almost instant results.

Dental veneers – Veneers are an excellent solution when the visible ‘social six’ teeth have either become badly chipped or heavily stained, perhaps through heavy smoking. Whilst a teeth whitening treatment may help somewhat in the latter instance, the results may not be as good as the patient hoped for. Instead of improving the actual enamel on our teeth, porcelain veneers are used to replace it. This does require invasive treatment, but the results look great and should last you for ten years or longer, with good regular care.

These are three common treatments used in a smile makeover, but other treatments may also be used, such as the use of dental implants, where a tooth is missing or orthodontics (braces) where teeth are misaligned. We offer a free initial consultation where we will discuss, with our Wickford and Rayleigh patients, what they hope to achieve, and suggest the best individual treatment plan to achieve it.
